i am sailing, i am saaailing
on last sunday janne and me cought the overnight bus to airlie beach to save the money for one accomodation. after 12 hours cruely penned in the seats we arrived in airlie- the departure for our sailing trip. weird, because if you imagine you would drive 12 hours in europe, that would mean you are going on holidays or at least planned to do a great trip but we just went from one town to the next....huuuuuuuuge continent

unfortunately the tide was very high when we've been there, still gorgeous but we couldn't see this 'pattern'
the sand was soo beautiful, absolut fine and whiter than white
after our work on the mango farm we really deserved our desert, 3 day sailing trip to the whitsundays. when we walked to the harbour it just poured and we were wet all over, it was still very warm though, but it's not really the weather you want on the beach. sailing with that big boat was such good fun and especially because we sailed into the sunset and darkness, just awesome. lying on the deck, looking to the stars and to such a bright moon (have never seen a moon like that before- amazing), feeling the breeze, listening to the music and just indulge oneself in memories, experiences and current life...that was really wicked.
we had a wodden boat with about 30 people on board. we've been on the boat all the time, meaning we were feeded (greedy backpacker *lol*) on board and slept there as well, either in the small cabins
or directly on board with sleepingbags. the food was delicious with fresh salad, meat, pasta, toast... AND desert *yum* it was basic food though, but we really appreciated it for you usually don't get such a variety as a backpacker. the kitchen plus table was only for the buffet and we had to eat on board outside on the deck. kind of funny because the wind has stolen us our cereals or lettuce :)
we spend most of the time sailing, on different beaches and especially in the water snorkelling or diving. as a certified diver i finally could dive into the underwaterworld again- yippieh. i could be crazy about that again, see in report in november (archives) i did the nightdive as well, wow that was soo exciting again. even scarrier then the last time during my diving cours because we were only four people and were brought far away from the boat with a small one into complete darkness. and then i had to roll into the water backwards, i haven't done this water access before. the first seconds you're upside down in the darkness and then you have to wait until you float up...coool =) unfortunately there weren't that many sharks because there was no light they could have been attracted from like on the big boat. but i saw a cray fish for the first time with blue shining eyes and a ray. i love diving!
pics from the nightdive...you only see what you illuminate...huhhh :O after the dive i saw a sea snake in the water with leopard pattern- absolut poissonous...that's something i don't really want to have an encounter with underwater. i'm scared of their movement...nevertheless i'm proud to have seen one!

a giant claim, with sunlight extrem colourful. if you put your hand in it....uhm...it's not longer your hand. i always played with by swirling the water next to them

crayfish....i'm wondering how many of them you need to have a prober meal?!?

after a big dinner we always had a big party on the boat and i got to know new drinking games- again :) was so good fun on the boat, on the water and music and fun and....yeah...pretty cool!

the task was to lift up the wine box without touching the ground, neither with your knees nor your hands. after each round they cut of a bit more...i failed in the 2nd round, easy explanation: too tall ;)
one reason why the atmosphere was that great, was that the crew was so nice and relaxed and all the other guys were young as well. of course there are always special rules on a boat, for instance only barefoot walking (funny looking with everybody having tan lines from the thongs *g*), going down the stairs backwards etc. if you break a rule vegemite-fines applied *BAAAAAAAAAAEHHHHH* meaning one spoon of pure vegemite *urgg* (vegemite ist ein brotaufstrich, den man nur auessert aeusserst dezent benutzt, hauchduenn, wie eingekochte vegies, hochkonzentriert und eingedickt, maggi aehnlich nur noch so eingekocht bis eingiermassen fest UND absolut ungeniessbar als nicht-australier)
