99 redballoons

i got a text message from karl last week „anna you have to be at tjapugai at 4:45 am on saturday. Take warm clothes and your camera. Have fun“ believe me, i was confused (my head hurt and i had to go to the doctor...don’t worry about that, it’s an insider) everybody i told about this surprise knew what’s going on....that was so mean, because i didn’t even have a clue what could happen there. Actually tjapugai it’s the aboriginal parc but in the middle of the night? After 3 hours of sleep i drove there and then everything revealed: it was a ticket for an airballoon ride/flight over the tablelands (cairns‘ highlands) that definitely was a surprise :)

the sun is waking up

while the balloons were blown up you could watch the sun rising behing the mountains. That was awesome, the mountains seemed to glow.

The flight itself was impressive as well because it’s so calm and still, you just start floating up at a certain time and this calmness is only interrupted by the blowing up now and then. Besides „i“ chose the best day ever, blue sky, sunshine and an endless view. I was very impressed by the morning fog sneeking through the mountains, that looked great, and the kangaroos jumping around down there was a funny picture, too. After a bumpy landing we all had to help packing up the huge balloon. The trip finally finished with a nice brekky buffet. Pretty wicked start in the day, thanks for that, karl!

there she is, that was bright as....

the rural area on the tablelands

aussie hot air balloon- how cool, hey?!

360 degree view over the sleepy land- pretty impressive....especially because you saw all the changes with the light, from sunrise to full blue sky
