some random pics while ryan has been here
these are the grandstands in klagenfurt: biggest beachvolleyball event in the world within the fivb world tour. it was a very cool experience, awesome to watch and a amazing atmosphere, especially with the best players of the world warming up and walking next to you. the stars are just not as insular as in other sports. i even got a player top from a brazil team :)for my aussie guy, i combined the tournament in austria with an extra tour to the "grossglockner" through the alps , another very impressive thing for ryan as they don't have mountains like that: "oh my god, look at that" "uhm, ryan, we are not in the alps yet, that's just a little hill, wait for the real mountains" i actually scared the shit out of him because of the very curvy passes up the hill or down- hehe- with the abyss right next to you. and then he thinks that the germans only have two speeds anyway: fast and very fast. that's only because WE have the good cars ;) so i drove down the whole way in the second gear... maximum speed of 40!
here we are: thats a real aussie guy: he never takes off his boardshorts, neither does he wear anything else than thongs on his feet (= flip flops) but this is SNOW, ryan, it's usually cold ;) you probably can understand now why your feet and hands were numb?!? ;)for me it was pretty interesting to show this so usual thing to somebody who has never seen something like this before, even if my words "it's going to be cold" obviously haven't been very effective....try and error, hay? i think he won't do this again "outch, i can't feel my fingers" -> tough it up, princess *lol*
his first "maß" of beer on a real little "kerwa" in the small village schwanstetten. and what do you have to say? "prost, mate" =)
in australia you can't get pretzels anywhere. ryan loved this pastries, scones or.... i easily have to name it precisely: "deutsche brezen" everytime we passed a bakery, he goes like "pretzel tiiime" i hope you don't suffer too much that you can't have 3 of these things a day, you will find compensation and i will get you some when i come :)
of course i was obliged to introduce ryan into our german culinary specialities. so we went to a "biergarten" and had "schnitzel mit kroketten", "lende mit kloss und soß' ", "schboofaggl (=spanferkel) mit semmelknödl", "wild" und natürlich nicht zu vergessen "schäufele mit kloss". you might be surprised what we have out of this weirdly shaped long glasses: "weizen"
